  • Voice Products, check that the pause or hold switch is not on. Also, VCVA setting is OFF

Troubleshooting

Quick solutions to common problems with your dictation and transcription equipment.

My foot pedal isn't working. What should I do?

If none of your foot pedal controls are working:

  1. Check that your foot control is properly connected
  2. For USB connections, try unplugging and reconnecting
  3. Test different USB ports

For detailed troubleshooting steps, visit our Foot Control Troubleshooting Guide.

I'm having sound or playback issues. How can I fix this?

Check the Position Indicator First

Press the "Listen/Play" button on the Foot Control. Is the position indicator moving in the DSS Player Pro Transcription Module?

If the indicator IS moving but you hear no sound:

Check these three things:

  • PC volume might be muted or turned down
  • Headset might not be properly connected to the PC headset port
  • Your headset might be faulty - try using a different one

If the indicator is NOT moving:

Try playing the sound file by clicking the "Play" button with your mouse. Can you hear sound now?

If mouse playback WORKS:

  • Ensure your Foot Control is firmly connected
  • Check your connection type (USB or Serial)
  • For ODMS R6, DSS Player Pro v5 or DSS Player Standard v1/v2, use USB connection only
  • Try unplugging and reconnecting the Foot Control
  • Test a different USB port
  • Restart your PC

If no sound plays at all:

  • Open Windows Control Panel
  • Go to "Sounds and Audio Devices"
  • Test playing a basic Windows sound
  • For Windows 10 ODMS R6 TM users: Go to Control Panel → Sound → Playback Tab and enable only one speaker option
  • You may need to update or replace your sound card
